Institutionalizing Diversity in Higher Ed: Global Implications

This panel will address the role of higher education in preparing students for citizenship in a diverse society. As American universities attract more and more students from diverse backgrounds, higher education has had to reexamine its cultural structure. Are we supporting all students, faculty and staff effectively? Are our campuses conducive for preparing students for a diverse global environment? What specific structures and processes need to be in place to attract and support a diverse university population? Who should answer these questions, and how should diversity be supported on the Missouri State campus? These questions, and many more aimed at creating a supportive campus that prepares students for a diverse global environment, will be addressed.
