Education, Violence and the American Soul

Education is a microcosm of the major social institutions in America. Each social institution has been impacted by violence. Researchers indicate a disturbing increase in the incidence of violence among school children, especially in the primary grades. This is exacerbated by the effects of increasing situational and generational poverty in America. What does this speak to regarding the American Soul? What is and what will be the future of education in society? Can education truly be reformed without reforming society? Panelists will consider the dream of the Founding Fathers, their dream for the American Soul and the implications for education.
