Carvin Eison is partner and co-owner of a nationally award-winning independent television and video production company, ImageWordSound, LLC.
Major productions include July ’64 — aired nationally on the PBS series Independent Lens and distributed by California Newsreel. July ’64 tells of the violence that erupted at a street dance one hot July night when a routine arrest took a turn for the worse and ended with the National Guard being called to a northern city for the first time during the civil rights era.
The film gives voice to the people who lived it and tells the story of three days of conflict and unrest that altered the course of history in Rochester, New York. Other productions include, What’s Next and Use Your Head, teen health communications series and curricula in national distribution; Oatka Trail, a high definition dance/art film for Garth Fagan Dance; and Perfectly Clear, an independently produced weekly news magazine program featuring interviews with national, state and local leaders.
Eison is a fulltime associate professor at SUNY College at Brockport, where he specializes in contemporary broadcast issues, ethics, media literacy and television/video production. Eison earned his M.A. in Fine Arts from SUNY Buffalo in 1979.
