Daud Qarizadah

Daud Qarizadah is head of the BBC World Service Bureau in Kabul, Afghanistan, leading a large team of journalists working across the country. He has 10 years experience in journalism and working with the BBC in different places, including the former Soviet Republics of Central Asia.

Throughout his career as a journalist, Qarizadah has covered Afghanistan — a country devastated by nearly three decades of civil war. Born and raised in the war-torn country, Qarizadah has covered many shocking events, including the 1997 capture of northern Afghanistan by the Taleban and the subsequent bloody war which took the lives of nearly 3,000 Taleban fighters in the north.

Since the 9/11 attacks, Qarizadah has visited Afghanistan and the region frequently. He was closely involved in covering the historic events that have taken place within the past six years in Afghanistan.
