Kim Combes, LBSW/M.Ed., has been in the human service field since becoming a residential treatment counselor in 1980. From 1984-89, he served as a social worker for the Iowa Department of Human Services. Since 1989, Combes has worked as a family therapist for two private agencies. Combes has enjoyed being active on local, state and national foster care boards. He is a National Foster Parent Association certified trainer and enjoys networking with many foster/adoptive parents across the U.S.
Combes is currently self-employed as a private practice counselor and presenter. He also writes for several foster care publications and serves on the Advisory Board for Fostering Families Today magazine. Since 1994, Combes has provided treatment level foster care for 35+ teenage boys. Combes and his wife, Diane, reside in Colo, Iowa. They have a 19-year-old daughter and five adopted children — a sibling group of four, ages 16, 14 and 10-year-old boy/girl twins, plus another 9-year-old son (never a dull moment).
