Andrew Syed

Andrew Syed is a humanitarian worker, writer, speaker and advocate of the global poor.  He is the founder and Executive Director of The 10/10 Project, an international development and advocacy organization that partners with indigenous community-based organizations in East Africa employing grass-roots strategies in fighting poverty.
 
Born in Peterborough, England, Syed traveled extensively as a child, developing a love for the world and a desire to travel more. Having earned a Bachelor of Biblical Literature from Ozark Christian College in 1992, Syed served for 11 years as a Youth Pastor in Houston, Texas, and Boulder, Colorado.  Syed has an MA in International Development and Human Rights from the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver.  He has taught extensively on poverty, human rights, social entrepreneurship, leadership, advocacy and activism.  He has presented lectures and seminars in several countries and has spoken at universities across the USA.

Currently, Syed is writing, traveling, speaking, and doing research in East Africa into more effective measures of long-term development.  

Syed and his family live in Colorado, where his wife Melia is an elementary educator and his two boys are budding soccer stars.
