Jim Chrisinger

Jim Chrisinger led performance and accountability for the state of Iowa from 1999-2006. Working with The Public Strategies Group, Chrisinger and his state colleagues pioneered post-bureaucratic transformation in Iowa state government.

Chrisinger drafted and led implementation of Iowa’s 2001 Accountable Government Act. He was instrumental in Iowa’s 2001 top-to-bottom performance review, which achieved $177 million in savings in the first two years. He also facilitated Iowa’s 2010 Strategic Planning Council.

With public service spanning local, state and federal government, Chrisinger has gained experience in the legislative, executive and judicial branches. Following his stint as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer in Prague during the 1989 Velvet Revolution, Chrisinger led post-communist economics and agribusiness projects in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe for Iowa State University. He served on the Ames, Iowa school board and the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Chrisinger graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from Iowa State University. He holds a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
