President of the nonprofit, WorldServe International, John Bongiorno builds bridges between the realms of business and charity. Founded in 1996, WorldServe is a leading provider of clean water wells in sub-Saharan Africa fulfilling a mission: To Provide Clean Water, Sanitation, Education and Economic Opportunities to Alleviate Suffering.
Bongiorno loves connecting business leaders with economic development opportunities in communities struggling with the challenges of extreme poverty – leading them to “do good and do well.”
The creation and development of Maji-Tech Engineering is a good example. Bongiorno was a founder of Maji-Tech in 2001. Today it is one of the largest private water drilling companies in Tanzania with seven drilling crews in the region.
Bongiorno splits his time between overseeing Maji-Tech’s growth in Africa and connecting with investors and donors in the United States and other countries. He and his wife, Sandi, reside in Springfield, Missouri.
