2009 PUBLIC AFFAIRS CONFERENCE
The opposite of sustainable development is unsustainable development. Conceptually, therefore, sustainable development is a sound concept – as the alternative is not sound. However, some forms of development are more sustainable than others. So, what does sustainable development look like? What are the goals of sustainable development, and, who decides these goals? For example, what is a “local stable community?” What does a completely “green building” or “green community” look like? Policies and economic forces that deter or promote sustainable development (from buildings to transportation) will be addressed.
When: Wednesday, April 22, 2009 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM
Room: PSU 313
