Ishmael: Takers, Leavers and Choices
Daniel Quinn’s book Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit articulated the difference between “Takers,” who rely on the manipulation of natural forces for their success and “Leavers,” whose social and economic structures tend to be more congruent with natural forces. Drawing on religion, philosophy and anthropology, this panel will discuss the issues of leaver and taker sustainability.
