2009 PUBLIC AFFAIRS CONFERENCE
Human rights and global justice advocates caution that efforts toward sustainability in western, more developed countries may lead to the exportation of pollution and environmental problems to less developed countries. However, decisions to shift environmental and human health burdens to less developed countries tend to make economic sense for countries such as the United States. This panel examines the social, economic and environmental impacts of the exportation of “dirty” industries through the perspective of those living in these countries.
When: Friday, April 24, 2009 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM
