Nadine Strossen, John Marshall Harlan II professor of law at New York Law School, has written, lectured and practiced extensively in constitutional law, civil liberties and international human rights. From 1991 through 2008, she was president of the American Civil Liberties Union, and she currently serves on the ACLU’s National Advisory Council, as well as the advisory Board of EPIC (Electronic Privacy Information Center).

Strossen has held leadership positions in other human rights organizations, including the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, Human Rights Watch and the National Coalition Against Censorship.

The National Law Journal named Strossen one of America’s 100 Most Influential Lawyers, and several other national publications named her one of the country’s most influential women. Her book, “Defending Pornography: Free Speech, Sex and the Fight for Women’s Rights” (Scribner 1995), was named by the New York Times a “notable book” of the year.
