Stoicism and the idea of cosmopolitanism
Stoicism is an ancient Greco-Roman philosophy that has been making a comeback as a Western counterpart to Buddhism. There are many good reasons to embrace Stoicism as a personal philosophy of life, beginning with its emphasis on living an ethical existence. The Stoics were also among the very first cosmopolitans, teaching that all human beings are worthy of respect and that the major goal of life is to be helpful to others.
