It takes a school to raise a village: Using schools to elevate communities
A robust school system is an essential community resource, but good schools are supported by strong, healthy communities. If a school is struggling, it can (sometimes) get funding to improve that school, but shouldn’t schools also be attentive to systemic community issues? Can schools and communities be improved at the same time? How may this symbiotic relationship between school and community health be used as an advantage rather than a disadvantage? What innovations and new ways of thinking might be considered if a Utopian vision of collaboration between school systems and communities is pursued?
