Volunteerism and civic engagement are central to maintaining unity in community. However, balancing work and family commitments has made civic engagement more challenging. In addition, tensions run high nationally surrounding many issues making people hesitant to get involved outside of their own circles. What are successful examples where communities are advanced by committed volunteers? How do citizens maintain their commitment to their communities in difficult times?
