Tiana Epps-Johnson works to make the U.S. election system more modern, inclusive and secure. As the founder and executive director of the Center for Technology and Civic Life in Chicago, Illinois, she leads a team that provides resources and training to support local election officials in modernizing the ways they communicate with voters and administer elections. Her team also publishes free, open-source civic datasets that have been accessed more than 200 million times through some of the most powerful tools that drive civic participation.

Epps-Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Stanford University and a master's degree in politics and communication from the London School of Economics. In 2015, she joined the inaugural cohort of Technology and Democracy Fellows at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the Harvard Kennedy School. In 2018, she was selected to join the inaugural cohort of Obama Foundation Fellows.
