Kelly McFaden (PhD) teaches undergraduate and graduate courses focusing primarily on the social foundations of education, social justice education, history and philosophy of education, education as a human right, and qualitative research methods. Previously a middle and high school teacher, her research focuses on broad issues of social justice, gender and queer studies, and comparative and international education. She also coordinates the international and global programs for the College of Education, facilitating study abroad opportunities across the globe.
She was selected to participate in the Fulbright-Hays Seminar Abroad Program in 2016. The program provides short-term study and travel seminars abroad for U.S. educators in the social sciences and humanities to improve their understanding and knowledge of the people and cultures of other countries. McFaden received a doctoral degree in social foundations of education, comparative and international education from the University of Georgia in 2013.
