Dr. Angela La Porte is a Professor of Art Education at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Her research interests include topics of diversity and inclusion across social, generational, and cultural boundaries, focusing on understanding and reducing the implicit barriers that often segregate individuals and communities. She edited a book published by the National Art Education Association, Community Connections: Intergenerational Links in Art Education, and contributed numerous scholarly papers to journals such as Studies in Art EducationThe Journal of Cultural Research in Art EducationThe International Journal of Lifelong Learning in Art Education, and Art Education among others. Dr. LaPorte is a National Art Education Association (NAEA) Distinguished Fellow and received the Pearl Greenberg Award from the NAEA Lifelong Learning interest group. She also received the Ziegfeld National Award, the Ziegfeld National Outstanding Service Award, and honored as a Kenneth Marantz Fellow by The United States Society for Education Through Art. The Arkansas Art Educators’ Association recognized her as the Art Educator of the Year, and twice as the Higher Education Art Educator of the Year.

Dr. LaPorte developed and led the Art Education program at the University of Arkansas since 1998, is treasurer for the NAEA Lifelong Learning interest group, and serves as NAEA’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Liaison for Arkansas. She has been a working member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences Commission on the Arts in Education and is Past President of the United States Society of Education Through Art.
