Dr. Christine Quattro, AICP is a certified city planner and assistant professor at Appalachian State University. They have both a PhD and AM in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, with previous degrees focusing on public, business, and higher education administration as well as education and the earth sciences. Dr. Quattro's professional experience includes serving as the Director of City Planning and Development for San Antonio City Council District 1 and the Lead Land Development Researcher for a private land development law firm based in Texas. Quattro currently serves as a board member for the Watauga Housing Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to affordable housing in the High Country, and as chair of the Hurricane Helene Long Term Recovery Group Construction Management committee.
Their work specializes in evaluating the impacts of regulatory, policy, and planning law systems on urban design, sociodemographic systems, and ecological landscapes. This includes identifying the obstacles to accessible transportation. Following Hurricane Helene, Dr. Quattro has collaborated with community groups to identify specific obstacles to reconstruction of critical infrastructure in the High Country. These efforts support Dr. Quattro's taskforce work with APA NC addressing zoning and regulatory reform.
