Stomp Out Hunger: All Collegiate Shoe Drive 2014

Oct. 1-24, 2014

Join Missouri State, Drury, OTC, Evangel and SBU in making a difference in both the local and global communities with the 2014 Community Engagement Project by collecting and donating new or used wearable shoes to reduce hunger, one shoe at a time! Donated shoes will benefit local nonprofit organizations, Sole Food and Friends Against Hunger, and the St. Louis based project, Shoeman Water Projects. This project embodies the MSU public affairs mission in addition to the 2014-15 public affairs theme, The Ethical Citizen: Can You Make a Difference?

This cooperative collegiate and community service project has a three-fold benefit:

  • shoes are provided to those in need around the world
  • a portion of the proceeds from the export of the donated shoes goes to Friends Agains Hunger and
  • the remaining proceeds go to the Shoeman Water Projects to purchase well drilling rigs, water filtration systems, and other supplies that bring clean, fresh water to those who thirst.

Stomp Out Hunger is a shoe drive benefitting the local Springfield nonprofit Sole Food. The shoes donated to Sole Food are then sold to Shoeman Water Projects, a nonprofit in St. Louis. 100% of those sales benefits Friends Against Hunger. Shoeman Water Projects distributes the shoes to vendors in developing countries and supports clean water initiatives.
