Is it the Great Divide? Bridging culture and ethics in the marketplace
Different cultures hold different values, making it tough to find a singular "right" ethical choice in some situations. In global and domestic business, with a world of diverse employees, culture intersects ethics. Employers want to create an all-inclusive workplace environment. However, cultural diversity can give rise to challenging ethical issues for managers and employees to resolve. When people make ethical decisions, they do so through the lens of their culture. What happens when one culture says a practice is ethical and another says it is not? To what extent is a common ethical code, or a universal set of values, a realistic aspiration?
