Song of the soul: The role of the arts in promoting a healthy community
Throughout human history, communities have used song, dance and other art forms to bring people together. These art forms transcend language barriers, and they form cultural bridges between diverse communities. But what, specifically, do the arts contribute to the health of a local community? What are the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of the arts? How may communities leverage these benefits in our economy where cuts in funding for the arts are far too common?
