Sandra Paola Lopez R.

Founder and Director, in2improv

Sandra Paola Lopez Ramirez is a dance maker, improviser and performance activist. Her work is characterized by the investigation of complex issues such as relationships, gender, race, identity awareness, kinesthetic listening and perception. Driven by her commitment to social justice, Paola co-founded and now directs in2improv, an organization that empowers under served populations by fostering collective creativity through performance and improvisation.

Originally from Bogota, Colombia, she earned a BFA in dance performance with psychology and religious studies minors from Missouri State University and a MEd in curriculum and instruction with an aesthetic education focus from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has presented at several national and international conferences, most notably the 9th Congress of the International Drama/Theater and Education Association in Paris, France and TEDx El Paso. She is currently a faculty member in the dance program at the University of Texas, El Paso.
