Building civility: Conflict resolution and social reconstruction

9:00 - 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016
PSU Ballroom East

Social and individual interactions have become more politically correct in recent years, but these interactions have also grown more devoid of civility as the foundations of civil discourse are slowly eroded by misrepresentation and misinterpretation of information by the media and on social networks. As the walls of social media pages fill with videos and “facts,” all too often civil discourse fades. In such a state, how may concerned citizens restructure the bridge of civility to create better pathways to constructive communication amongst our neighbors, our peers and even those with whom we disagree?
