Are we our brothers' keepers? The role of the U.S. in building healthy international communities
The United States has a long history of offering a wide variety of aid to nations around the globe: economic aid, disaster relief, humanitarian supplies and so much more. What are the issues surrounding this aid? To what extent is government policy successful vis-a-vis corporate and non-government organizations' efforts? How does the American definition of a “healthy community” compare to that of our foreign neighbors? What are the benefits, consequences and cautions of promoting healthy communities in other lands?
