JD Crouch II

J.D. Crouch II is the president and chief executive officer of the United Service Organizations (USO) based in Arlington, Virginia. The USO provides services to current members of the armed forces and their families, both at home and abroad, through a variety of programs including the operation of 180 USO centers, Operation PhoneHome, Comfort Crew for Military Kids, Couples Seminar: Stronger Families and support for families of the fallen.

Previously, Crouch served as assistant to the president under George W. Bush, 2005-07. He also served as the U.S. ambassador to Romania and the assistant secretary of defense for international security policy from 2001-03. Crouch was the principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for international security policy. He worked for the assistant director for strategic programs in the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. Crouch was also an advisor to the U.S. Delegation on Nuclear and Space Arms Talks with the former Soviet Union.

He served pro bono for 10 years as a reserve deputy sheriff in southwest Missouri, where he was named Missouri Deputy Sheriff of the Year in 2000. Crouch holds a doctorate in international relations from the University of Southern California.
