The arts as the heart of Utopia

10:30 - 11:45 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2018
PSU Ballroom West

The arts—music, film, poetry, paintings, theatre, literature, dance and more—circumvent divisive politics and connect directly to our human hearts. Poet Charles Bukowski wrote, "An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way."  This panel will explore specific artists, along with a discussion of how the arts can bring people together, creating civic engagement and constructive conversation about social justice, equality, ethics, forgiveness and the art of being human.
