According to a United States Department of Agriculture survey, about 12 percent of households in the U.S. are food insecure. Furthermore, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey shows that 12 percent of children are classified as obese.  Whether food availability is uncertain, food options are limited and poor choices are made about food quality and consumption. The health of our children, citizens and communities are affected. Dietary and nutritional problems negatively affect education and life time health care costs. What is the prognosis for food-rich and food-poor families, communities, and nations?
