Floodplain Administrator

Mark Williams recently retired from a career as a source water specialist with Colorado Rural Water Association. He helped rural communities throughout Colorado develop plans and strategies for protecting their drinking water supplies.
Williams resides in the James Creek watershed and was instrumental in forming the James Creek Watershed Initiative, where he currently serves as board president. He volunteers for his local fire department and as the community’s floodplain administrator. His community of 250 has been evacuated twice for natural disasters; once in 2003 for a wildfire, and again in 2013 for a catastrophic flood.
A Certified Floodplain Manager, Williams has a bachelor's degree in geology from Albion College and a master's degree in environmental policy and management from the University of Denver.
