All the colors of the rainbow: An untattered flag of freedom in former fringe communities
In a world of increasing fragmentation, LGBTQ communities are beginning to thrive. A landmark Supreme Court civil rights case repealed the Defense of Marriage Act, allowing the same terms and conditions for gay marriages as for those of opposite-sex couples. The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act worked to close the gender pay gap and promote income equality for women. Despite these efforts, the rights of both groups remain under attack. Same-sex and gender-based prejudices persist, but millennials are increasingly embracing diversity and inclusion. What common threads bind the communities of LGBTQ and working women? What will the future hold?
