Greg Burris is the city manager for Springfield, Missouri. He has direct responsibility for 2,300 employees, a $334-million annual budget and over $1.3 billion in assets. Burris serves as the chief executive and administrative officer and is responsible for the proper administration of all of the city’s affairs.
Previously, Burris worked for 25 years at Missouri State University in positions ranging from computer programmer to vice-president.
Burris received the O. Franklin Kenworthy Award for Outstanding Leadership, Leadership Springfield’s highest honor; he received the Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Affairs from Missouri State University; and he was selected as one of Springfield Business Journal’s “Men of the Year.”
Burris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems and a Master of Business Administration degrees, both from Missouri State University. He has served in leadership positions on the board of directors and led strategic planning initiatives for a variety of community non-profit organizations.
