Sustainability in the extended global supply chain
In today's world of global, extended supply chains, interactions between multiple trading partners is common and, many times, necessary. However, this has resulted in inefficiencies that have caused enormous amounts of waste: Wastes such as additional costs in logistics, manufacturing production and excess inventory. All of these costs associated with supply chain failures have resulted in excessive pollution in the air and water, and poor manufacturing practices is resulting in increased global warming. What is now known as the supply chain bull whip will be a focus on this presentation and how many leading businesses in all industries are now resolving these issues using techniques such as integrated business planning (IBP) and collaborative supply chain planning. The goal is to smooth the supply chain bullwhip, aligning the extended supply chain with consumer demand and optimizing the extended supply chain to significantly improve profitability resulting in many sustainability benefits.
