Lois Gillmore has 23 years of experience in mental health and substance use disorder clinical care. Throughout Missouri and Kansas, she has developed and implemented community-based treatment, education, intervention and prevention programs that have delivered direct care to children, families, adults, military personnel and veterans.
Her expertise includes supervising and directing the operations of a Behavioral Health Clinic, management of biochemical testing programs for residential treatment and Missouri drug-courts, and conducting clinical duties for a wide variety of treatment programs. Her work has included counseling and treatment for military personnel, their families and veterans at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Riley and the United States Department of Veteran Affairs.
Currently residing in Seattle, Gillmore is the Region 10 assistant regional administrator for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities. In this capacity, she oversees program and policy development and management for Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and 272 federally recognized tribes. She received her Bachelor of Social Work from Missouri State University and her Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
