Bridging the health care divide
All times listed are central time (CT).
Too many Americans face obstacles in obtaining timely and quality access to primary health services. These barriers may be economic, cultural, geographic, linguistic or disability related. Children, adults and the elderly living in rural, inner-city and other underserved and tribal areas face growing health care deserts as the number of physicians declines. How can avenues for quality access and affordability be built? What new delivery methods are needed to meet social, cultural and linguistic needs? As telehealth and digital methods of health care delivery expand, how can technology be secured for those unable to afford or access it? What are the implications for the training of future health care professionals? How can partnerships with community or corporate organizations and stakeholders help coordinate and integrate health care?
