Alaa Abdelhakiem

Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine

Born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Egypt, Alaa Abdelhakiem, PharmD moved to the U.S. at age 6. She received her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Missouri State University in 2015 and went on to earn her doctoral degree in pharmacy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy in 2019. She completed a postgraduate year 1 residency the following year at DHR Health in collaboration with Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy. she is currently a clinical assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas at El Paso's School of Pharmacy.  

Abdelhakiem's research interests include cultural competency in healthcare, interprofessional education, student wellness and resilience and health disparities.
