Kayce Morton, DO is a community pediatric hospitalist.   Born and raised in the Springfield area she graduated from Drury College.  She attended Kansas City University of Biosciences and Osteopathic Medicine.  She has practiced here since graduating her residency at University of Missouri-Columbia in 2008.  She has always had interest in pediatric medicine, and now has found her passion not only in the hospital medicine at CoxHealth but also at Jordan Valley as their pediatric medical director.  A position that will further her goals to address childhood trauma in pediatric care.

Locally Dr. Morton likes to stay involved in the community in various ways.  She recently finished her presidency of Greene County Medical Society.   She is on the board for Isabel’s House, working with their medical management on the program committee, and participates in their events and fundraising.  She has been an active member of the Mayor’s Commission for Children, currently serving on their Advisory Board.   

Nationally, she is a current Senior Fellow of Society of Hospital Medicine participating in the pediatric special interest group.  An active member of American Academy of Pediatrics, she became involved in the section of Tobacco Control that led her to the local coalition with the public health department with a recent win for Tobacco 21 being passed in Springfield city limits.  She also is active in the section on Hospital Medicine and is current co-chair for the community hospitalists subcommitee.  Dr. Morton is active in the Missouri chapter of the AAP as the Communication Chair, as well as head of the sub-committee on childhood trauma.  Dr. Morton is nationally involved QI work within CoxHealth that is associated with the Pediatric Research in Inpatient Settings, completing and continuing projects on Asthma, monitoring overuse, safe sleep and tobacco cessation.  

Dr. Morton is also involved with Springfield Resilience Initiative that is associated with John Hopkins University and National Alliance on Mental Illness that participates in the pediatric integrated care collaborative.  Now working with Missouri Hospital Association in a state pilot.  This group’s goal is to educate and implement trauma informed care into our medical systems and address the health inequities that result. 

In her “free time” Kayce is a runner, participating in local runs, so as an advocate for more trails and places to do that she was recruited to the Trailspring board, working on expanding trails with Dirt 66 project.  She enjoys the outdoors, ex boating and the sun with her husband of 22 years, 16yo daughter and 13yo son.
