Dr. Amy Laurel Fluker is a historian and author specializing in the American Civil War. Her research examines how Americans have interpreted the history of the Civil War over time and how they live with that difficult history today. She is the author of Commonwealth of Compromise: Civil War Commemoration in Missouri, as well as a variety of articles exploring the challenges of loyalty and reconciliation in the Civil War era. Fluker is currently an Associate Professor of History at Youngstown State University in Ohio, where she holds the Robert W. Reeder I Memorial Endowment in History.
