Project Manager/Business Partner - IT
WaterOne
Cara (she/her) started her career working in project management and business analysis roles, for Sprint and Ericsson, supporting wireless and wireline telecommunications networks. She then transitioned to project management in fiber network implementation projects for Google Fiber and then worked on globally dispersed teams conducting deployments of payment software to a telecommunications provider for Amdocs. Cara currently works for WaterOne, a water utility in Johnson County Kansas, in their IT division. Along with managing IT projects, Cara works as an IT Business Partner.
In her role as a Business Partner, Cara works with divisions outside of IT as their IT liaison. She enjoys “digging in” with the organizations she represents - building relationships, learning their processes, pain points, and making sure they are represented in IT decisions. Being embedded with other divisions lets her view IT work from a different perspective, allowing her to step back and think about the end users and the many ways one small change can affect the work they do. She loves helping with it all; from the small to the big projects because they all make a difference. Cara holds an Engineering Management degree, with an emphasis in management of technology, from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Masters in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Organizational Communication theories, from The University of Kansas.
Cara currently lives in an always busy home in Overland Park, KS with her husband, mother-in-law, four kids, and dog. She enjoys creating art and enjoying the outdoors in her spare time. She is looking forward to Kansas City hosting the upcoming world cup and already has friends who will be traveling from Brazil to stay with her family to attend the games!
