Carrie McKean is a West Texas–based writer whose work has appeared in various publications including the New York Times, The Atlantic, The Free Press, and Christianity Today. Writing from outside traditional media centers, she is especially interested in how polarized national conversations take shape in local communities and in the lives of families. Her work aims to bring a steady, thoughtful voice to complex issues, with an emphasis on clarity, curiosity, and our common ground.

In addition to her writing, she is involved in local civic life and is the founder of the Facebook group Midland Civil Society, an online space created to encourage respectful dialogue and greater connection across differing perspectives. She is grateful to be part of conversations that seek to bridge divides and strengthen the connection between public discourse and our ordinary everyday lives.
