Imagine a dozen neighborhoods and civic organizations from the north side, south side, east, and west, all competing in a single elimination tournament trophy, “the Bobbi”, a simple bronzed sneaker screwed to the top of a walnut block of wood.??More than 250 people, from children to old-timers, families and individuals, 150+ players, coaches, umpires, announcers, organizers, community activists, and city official…all coming together, talking, playing, cheering, horsing around, and kicking it on a breezy April Sunday afternoon. The real trophy is building community. For seven years, that has been the legacy of SGFKickball! SGFKickball is a Neighborhoods USA?award-winning community development program and organization that promotes belongedness, fun, fitness, and cooperative competition. Hear the story of a successful social event that became a larger-than-life entity bringing people together. Let’s get out there and get kicking!
