Volunteer service is a common practice in high schools across the country. Service-learning and volunteerism among college students continues to be on the rise. However, service organizations, such as Rotary International, face declining numbers. Where is the disconnect between student and adult community engagement? How may service organizations be revitalized to attract young adults? What other outlets exist for continuing students and our recent graduates? How may philanthropic organizations help to bridge this gap? Is community engagement a necessary trait for an ethical leader?
