Dr. Marisela González Avila is a researcher at the State of Jalisco’s Center for Research and Assistance in Technology and Design (CIATEJ) in Guadalajara, Mexico. Dr. González specializes in cellular biology and much of her research focuses on the interaction of food, food ingredients and supplements with human intestinal microbiota. She is a Level 1 National Researcher and was the 2012 winner of the State Prize for Science and Technology in Jalisco.
Prior to her current role, Dr. González was a professor at the Polytechnic University of Pachuca and the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo. She also served as director of the Engineering Program in Biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Pachuca. Dr. González received her Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in science from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute and her Bachelor in Biology from the University of Guadalajara.
