Social justice: Are healthy communities open to everyone?

1:30 - 2:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016
PSU Ballroom East

Who gets to live and thrive in healthy communities? Are these communities only for those that can afford them? Are healthy communities a privilege or a right? In Springfield, almost 26% of the population live below the federal poverty line, and almost 55% of all school-age children are eligible for free and reduced lunches. How do their communities compare with those whose residents have more resources? How should the inequities that exist in communities be addressed? What are the short- and long-term effects of social and economic injustice on the spiritual, mental and physical well-being of diverse peoples?
