What is the true cost of fast food?
Americans spend less per person for food than most developed countries, yet we suffer from high rates of poor nutrition-driven diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. While there is a growing trend for locally sourced foods, many Americans still find themselves living in food deserts. Is it possible to create access to healthy local foods at an affordable price for all Americans, or are these choices open only to those who can afford them? How may consumers be educated to make healthier choices for their families? What role do farmers markets play in creating accessibility? How does the practice of locally sourcing food benefit the local economy?
