Liberty and women's equality

3:00 - 4:15 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017
PSU Ballroom East

Women are a voting majority in the United States yet females hold only 20% of seats in the U.S. Congress, 24% in state legislatures, and six governorships. Additionally, women make up 47% of the total U.S. labor force yet only 4% of Fortune 500 CEOs are female. While there is more equality and fairness in the workplace than ever before, perhaps this paints too rosy a picture. Issues of domestic and sexual violence, pay equality, paid family leave, and access to contraception remain. What is the best way forward in protecting and promoting women’s equality?
