Paul F. Williams was sworn in as the chief of police in Springfield, Missouri on July 1, 2010. He began his law enforcement career in 1981 with the Tulsa Police Department, retiring at the rank of major after 29 years of service.
Chief Williams currently serves with the following organizations: Missouri Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST)-Chairman, Missouri Police Chief’s Association-Immediate Past President, Missouri Police Chiefs Charitable Foundation-Chairman and Springfield-Greene County 911 Board-Chairman. Chief Williams was honored as Missouri’s Police Chief of the Year in 2015, and as one of Springfield’s Men of the Year in 2016. He and his wife, Regina, have three children and one granddaughter.
Chief Williams holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Northeastern (OK) State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Michigan University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy-207th Session.
