Bill Powers is the principal of Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri. Previously, he was the principal of Cherokee Middle School for nine years. He has worked for Springfield Public Schools (SPS) since 2006. He was named the 2018-2019 Middle School Principal of the Year by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Prior to working for SPS, he was a teacher in the Hillsborough County School District in Tampa, Florida.

A native of Decatur, Tennessee, Powers earned his undergraduate degree in English-Journalism from Tennessee Technological University and spent five years as a sports journalist before beginning his teaching career in Florida. He later earned his master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of South Florida in Tampa, and his Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Southwest Baptist University.
