The ethics and social impact of pornography

10:30 - 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2019
PSU Ballroom West

Pornography is one of the most commonly searched topics on the internet. Unfortunately, the digital world normalizes misogyny, racism and violence against women. Pornography is a pervasive commodity on campuses and throughout our society. The porn industry exemplifies the power dynamics of sex, where women are portrayed as sexual objects, and actresses, both those who consent and those who do not, are exploited. The ease of access to pornography on all digital devices is making it easier for our youth to be exposed at ever earlier ages. What can we do to minimize the negative impacts of pornography on individuals?
