Dr. Michelle Rutty is an assistant professor of sustainable tourism in the department of community sustainability at Michigan State University.
Her research is focused within the human-environment geographic tradition and involves interdisciplinary scholarship that brings together social and natural scientific approaches to examine the interactions of the environment and the tourism sector.
Broadly, this includes sustainable tourism, climate and society, resource management, and human dimensions of environmental change. She has received international recognition for her work, including research awards from these organizations: World Meteorological Organization; Travel and Tourism Research Association; International Center for Research and Education in Tourism; and World Tourism Forum.
