Barbara Caton - 2017 Awardee

Assistant Professor, Nursing, West Plains

Barbara Caton keeps her passion for helping children and families active through numerous volunteer efforts.  For 20 years, Barbara has helped lead and coordinate the West Plains' annual Community-wide Baby Shower.  She spends over 100 hours a year fundraising, marketing, purchasing, assembling and distributing care boxes to help provide for the physical needs of newborns and give encouragement and hope to new mothers.  Over 2,000 newborns have been the recipients of Barbara’s efforts.  In addition, she volunteers for the Born to Read program and as a sister sponsor at Women for Women International, which supports women survivors of war.        

For these and other community service activities, we are proud to recognize Barbara Caton with the 2017 Faculty Excellence in Community Service Award.
